Over the past 6 months my team has implemented a SAP HANA sidecar, providing a significant change to the business in how we deliver our business’s corporate data.   • Susan Monkley

    Susan Monkley is the Deputy Chief Executive Officer and Chief Information Officer of the Shared Services Centre (SSC), a joint initiative between the partner departments of Education and Employment. Susan has more than 20 years’ experience in the APS, including senior executive positions in the former Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR) and Centrelink. Susan is responsible for strategic leadership of the SSC - including infrastructure, corporate and business systems - to help enable clients to focus on their core business. Susan also leads the teams responsible for the development and support of the business systems that support the Department of Education in its delivery of government policy. She is also responsible for a major shared services initiative across federal government: the delivery and implementation of a Parliamentary Workflow System to 40 agencies by 2016.

Katrin has been with SAP’s Customer Connection team, firstly in the German headquarters for 4 years and since March 2014, she has been based in Melbourne, Australia. Before joining SAP, Katrin worked as a management consultant with a focus on HR Management, Organization Design and Organizational Change Management in Europe and the US.

Over the past 8 years with Optus he has worked in a number of different senior commercial roles, working for the CFO, Heads of Finance and Business Unit VPs, leading management planning, reporting and analysis teams, managing commercial operations, driving both incremental and transformational change and using robust, insightful and timely analysis to guide executive decision making. Prior to Optus, he worked in profitability improvement consulting, working for large corporate clients including CBA, AGL, NRMA Member Services and the University of Southern Queensland.     Alan is currently Director, IT strategy & planning for Canadian National Railway, and his responsibilities include the development and implementation of IT strategy, innovation, industry relations & business development, IT optimisation and IT marketing & communications. Before holding this position, Alan was Director, business services & supply chain technologies. Prior to that, Alan led a team of senior managers in delivering the business case and executive approval for CN’s $350M investment in modernisation of asset management processes and systems, using SAP; during which he led the change management program, project Integration and field deployment efforts. Alan was also the Project Director for CN’s $150M Service Reliability Strategy (SRS) project; the largest business and technology transformation program in Canadian railroading history, enabling CN to operate a Precision Railroad through re-tooling of core business processes and systems for rail yards, terminals, train operations, billing and customer service management. Alan founded and is Chairman of the SAP User Group for Rail, and is a guest lecturer at McGill, Concordia and Bishops universities. Alan has a B.Eng. in Civil Engineering and an MBA in Transportation. He has also held rail certifications in Track Inspection, Track Machine Operations and Railcar Inspection.

  • Hugh Durrant-Whyte

    Prof. Hugh Durrant-Whyte's research work focuses on robotics and distributed sensor networks. He has published over 350 papers has been awarded two Australian Research Council (ARC) Federation Fellowships. His work with industry includes major robotics and automation projects in cargo handling, surface and underground mining, defence, unmanned flight vehicles and autonomous sub-sea vehicles. He has also co-founded three successful start-up companies. Hugh has won numerous awards and prizes for his work including the ATSE Clunies Ross Award, IFR/IEEE Invention and Entrepreneurship Award, the NSW Pearcey Award, and four IEEE Best Paper prizes. He was named Professional Engineer of the year (2008) by the Institute of Engineers Australia Sydney Division and NSW Scientist of the Year (2010). He is an IEEE Robotics and Automation Society Distinguished Lecturer (2006-10). He is a Fellow of the Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering (FTSE), a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (FIEEE), a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Science (FAA), and a Fellow of the Royal Society (FRS).

  • Paul Young

    Paul Young is the Global Vice President for Strategic Customers in the Platform Solutions Group at SAP. In that role he works with customers across the world that are experiencing or creating significant change, using the SAP Real Time Data Platform. Paul has been with SAP for 15 years, with experience in the development, professional services, sales and executive customer support teams. He was part of the launch team for HANA and the formation of the Database and Technology organization. Paul is exclusively focused on the unique capabilities it brings to major customers like Adobe, Apple, John Deere, HP and Verizon. Prior to SAP, Paul was an SAP customer for 7 years at Hewlett Packard in Scotland, Germany and the United States. He was part of the team that setup the World Wide Shared Services organization and deployed SAP globally. Part of that time was spent on assignment with SAP helping to develop the core R/3 product.

Peter has also held secondments in roles as diverse as General Manager of Ergon Energy's Distribution Business and General Manager Workplace Health & Safety. Peter was previously the Integration Program Manager reporting to the Board Chairman for the formation of Ergon Energy through the merger of six regional distribution companies with Ergon Energy Retail. Peter was awarded an Honorary Doctor of Business from the Central Queensland University for demonstrating leadership in the application of information and technology sciences and successful organisational transformations.

Over the last two years John has delivered projects that have implemented HANA and other appliances.

    Ross is responsible for the sales strategy and execution for HP’s large scale enterprise class servers which encompass the HANA Converged Systems range. His focus is to support SAP HANA with innovative business computing solutions supported over the longer term by HP’s Project Odyssey which is all about bringing mission critical capability to the industry standard X86 market. He is part of a committed management team whose prime objectives are to provide the best customer focused services and support whilst continuing HP’s strong momentum in server and infrastructure business. Ross began his business systems career with NCR some 40 years ago working across a variety of sales and sales management roles in the ensuing period. His experience encompasses South East Asia, Aust and NZ driving sales of packaged software and complete hardware solutions, with an emphasis on converged infrastructure dating from the ‘70’s. Ross joined HP in 2011 moving from Oracle Corporation who had acquired the former Sun Microsystems the previous year. He spent the previous 10 years with Sun Microsystems working within the Telstra account. In his time at HP some major customers have recommitted to the HP SAP HANA solutions as their preferred infrastructure platform, recognising its highly available capabilities and business critical resilience.
