Opening the black box: real-time build visibility at Brisbane City Council with SAP Cloud ALM

Traditional ERP build phases are a black box — weekly status meetings, competing spreadsheets, and issues surfacing at SIT entry when it's too late to act. Brisbane City Council changed that by making Cloud ALM the operational system, not a reporting tool. Developers and test analysts updated status as they worked, creating a single source of truth shared across Customer and System Integrator. Andrew from BCC will discuss the shift from retrospective status reporting to decisions driven by current data. He will also show how they created near real-time dashboards, WRICEF-based integration risk tracking, defect aging reports, and end-to-end traceability from business process to test result.

Thought Leader Keynote: From Pain Points to Opportunity Points - Process Design Beyond Simplification

As entire industries have made great progress in streamlining and digitalising their business processes, an organisation’s ability to compete on processing time or cost to serve is diminishing. Process efficiency remains relevant but is becoming an expected hygiene factor. This motivational keynote will present how opportunity points in business processes, and not just pain points, can be systematically identified in SAP-supported business processes. These surface revenue design options, customer experiences and trust-building touchpoints unlock new value propositions for process designer. We will also share the patterns of such process design opportunities, their application in international SAP case studies and the emerging tool support.

Establishing a sustainable, high-functioning HRIS capability at CS Energy

To comply with audit and segregation of duties recommendations, CS Energy was tasked with establishing a new HRIS function in 2024. This session will explore how this was done including:

• Quantifying and scoping the responsibilities of the new HRIS function, including identifying which business processes, system(s) were in scope, engaging stakeholders/customers, and understanding the skill set and resourcing requirements.
• Designing and establishing the Service Management Process framework utilised by the new HRIS team, to ensure it complies with regulatory and industry standard
• Assessing current skill levels and experience, interests and potential of existing resources and creating development plans to ensure skill sets matches the capabilities required from the HRIS team.
• Building the required support structure to plug any “gaps” in skills, and experience
