SAP updates Maintenance and Support for greater customer flexibility
SAP recently announced upgrades to its on-premise maintenance and support policies to offer customers increased and better choices. In consultation with the European Union Commission and on-going collaboration with global SAP User Groups, the updates are aimed at improving "flexibility, transparency and predictability"
As well as greater overall flexibility, the changes offer better terms and flexibility for unused licences and simpler contract and policy terms that better reflect evolving SAP landscapes and today's complex business realities.
Stefan Steinle, SAP's Executive Vice President and Head of Global Customer Support, in a recent news article said that the updated policies apply to all current and future customers globally, for on-premise products, and that customers should talk with their Account Executives or SAP customer facing teams for more details.
Maintenance and Support have often been contentious issues for SAP customers and user group members in the past, with robust debates (especially in our SAUG Executive Council) around perceived or real value, lack of clarity and what developments or innovations should be covered by Maintenance and what falls outside. SAP has made significant improvements in these areas in the last few years so this update to Maintenance and Support policies and practices will be welcomed and view with interest by most customers and the general user group community.
