Dr Nick Brown is a Senior Consultant at the Australian Institute of Sport. He has been at the AIS for 10 years, most recently as the Deputy Director, Performance Science and Innovation. Performance Science and Innovation delivered research and innovation programs for Australian Olympic and Paralympic sport. He was Director of Performance Services for the Australian Olympic Team in Rio, 2016. He previously worked as a Podiatrist in Queensland before completing a Master of Health Science at QUT, a PhD in Biomechanics and a post-doctoral fellowship in biomedical engineering at the University of Texas at Austin, USA. He worked in the Department of Orthopaedics at the University of Utah and held appointments in the Departments of Exercise Science and Bioengineering at Utah. Dr Michael Drew is currently a Senior Sports Physiotherapist at the Australian Institute of Sport. In this role he oversees the prevention and epidemiology projects at the Australian Institute of Sport which designs, analyses and implements real-world injury and illness surveillance and prevention programs for Australian National Sporting Organisations. This role is focussed on Australian Olympic and Commonwealth Games athletes. Michael has a PhD in Physiotherapy and has completed a Master of Clinical Epidemiology where the focus has been on epidemiological study design and biostatistics. Michael is a Fellow of the Australian Sports Medicine Federation and is in final process of becoming a Fellow of the Australian College of Physiotherapy. He holds adjunct appointments at Federation University Australia (ACRISP) and the University of Canberra (UCRISE) where he co-supervises PhD and Masters candidates. He is the current Scientific Chair for the Sports Medicine Australia Conference, a member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Biostatistics and Epidemiology Workgroup and a research fellow at the Australian Centre for Research into Injury in Sport and its Prevention (ACRISP), an IOC Research Centre.
