SAUG's Head of Content Shares Insights on SAP's New Business Data Cloud

We’re excited to share Michael’s perspective on SAP's latest innovation, the SAP Business Data Cloud, as he is our Head of Content, and has an in-depth understanding of the SAP landscape and its evolving trends:

"As the Head of Content for the SAP Australian User Group, I am very interested in SAP's launch of its new SAP Business Data Cloud solution. For as long as I can remember, SAP Australian User Group (SAUG) members have been looking for ways to better unify their data from many SAP and non-SAP sources, for a "single source of truth", to gain deeper insights from their data and make more intelligent and actionable decisions.

Of course, with the fast growth of AI use, better, unified data is crucial for reliable AI. Anyone who attended our SAUGx event in November 2024 would have seen customer members showing their actual enterprise architecture plans as they attempt to detangle their landscape to make better use of data.

The recent announcement by SAP of its SAP Business Data Cloud solution promises to "unify all SAP and third-party data throughout an organization" and "harmonize data from organizations’ most mission-critical applications with data engineering and business analytics capabilities". This comes about from a new partnership between SAP and Databricks, promising a "new era in enterprise data management".

The possibility of more effective AI models, access to real time and deeper contextual data from SAP apps and third party sources, on a unified platform, will certainly interest many members so we will all be watching this space closely.

I would also encourage all SAUG members to check the SAUG website www.saug.com.au (and non members can find out how to join) as we will be shortly running a Special Interest Group session which will unpack Business Data Cloud in detail and show what it could potentially do for your organisation."
