SAP to acquire Reltio
SAP to strengthen its Data and AI capabilities with acquisition of Reltio
SAP has moved to increase its capabilities in Data and AI with the announced acquisition of Reltio, a leading master data management (MDM) software provider. Once finalised, SAP has stated that these new capabilities will work alongside and strengthen SAP Business Data Cloud (SAP BDC) and accelerate the evolution of SAP BDC into a complete enterprise data platform for Agentic AI.
On the surface, this move makes sense for SAP and should be of interest to our community. SAUG Members, in particular the Data & Analytics Special Interest Group members, have for a long time been working on unifying and optimising their SAP and non-SAP data and more recently, developing a better Data foundation for AI that can actually provide sustainable and scalable business value.
SAP says that Reltio’s platform will help organizations manage and govern structured and unstructured enterprise data end to end and identify and merge related records from different formats and applications into one reliable consistent view of customers, products, suppliers, locations and employees. It will also help customers make their SAP and non-SAP enterprise data AI-ready by providing the tools they need to unify, cleanse, and harmonise data across sources.
As a ‘single source of truth' has been a key goal for many SAUG members, we look forward to further updates on this acquisition which is expected to be finalised in Q2 or Q3 of 2026. SAUG will work with SAP to provide better insights into these new capabilities and as always to provide SAUG members with the guidance and knowledge to make the best decisions and optimise their use of SA technology.
