A Quick Recap of GDPR... what do you need to know?
GDPR: Tell me again... what is it?
As you may be aware, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) that was implemented two years ago came into effect in May of last year. The purpose of the regulation is to strengthen and unify data protection for all individuals within the European Union (EU). The GDPR aims primarily to give control back to citizens and residents over their personal data and to simplify the regulatory environment for international business by unifying regulation within the EU.
But I'm not in the EU, how does this effect me? Australian and New Zealand customers may be effected by the GDPR especially when data is processed in the EU or if identifiable personal data of customers and vendors residing in the EU is processed in Australia/New Zealand.
In the lead up to GDPR coming into effect, SAUG hosted a number of very knowledgeable speakers, who were able to shed some light on the meaning of GDPR and how it may impact your business.
