Jen's Off For the Royal Flying Doctor!
Most of you know me as SAUG's Event Manager but I also have a huge passion for fundraising and this year I'm joining my Dad on the Outback Car Trek, raising funds for the Royal Flying Doctor!
The Outback Car Trek is an annual event (held in June each year) that donates the funds it raises each year to The Royal Flying Doctor Service. Since its inception in 1990 it has raised more than $32,500,000 for the Royal Flying Doctor Service. The Trek is well known as the premier Charity Car Rally in rural Australia today.
The 2023 Trek route has been released, and is one that will take us to truly unique locations, through stunningly beautiful landscapes, and mostly on roads the Trek has not ever travelled during its 34 year history.

The Outback Car Trek is an event for older 2WD cars, and all of the cars are specially prepared to cope with the fun of outback and remote dirt road driving. Our car is a 1973 Holden HQ and as you can see below she is a beauty!
This will be my Dad’s 25th Outback Car Trek but my first, over the years my youngest brother completed four Treks before moving overseas and many of Dads close friends have also been Trekkers. I am excited for the opportunity to spend time in this beautiful country but also to spend time with my Dad.
The Outback Car Trek raises awareness and much needed funds for the Royal Flying Doctor, we need your help to continue to support this essential service!
The Royal Flying Doctor Service is one of the largest and most comprehensive aeromedical organisations in the world.
Using the latest in aviation, medical and communications technology, the RFDS delivers extensive primary health care and 24-hour emergency service to those who live, work and travel throughout Australia.
With a waiting room of 7.13 million square kilometres, they provide 24-hour aeromedical emergency services to country Australia.
The RFDS provides emergency evacuations throughout rural and remote Australia for people who are seriously ill or injured and require urgent medical attention. They provide quality medical treatment on the ground and use a dedicated aircraft when we need to transport patients to an appropriate hospital for any further treatment.
The RFDS provides regular fly-in fly-out GP, Nursing and Allied Health Clinics to rural and remote communities.
Rural and remote Australia is characterised by small, widely dispersed populations - and a lack of easy access to primary health care services. The RFDS works to overcome this, providing regular fly-in fly-out GP, Nursing and AlliedHealth Clinics to rural and remote communities.
In many of the locations where these clinics are provided, the RFDS is the only provider of health care services -- and takes the place of 'local' providers. As a result, the RFDS delivers health care services to the people and families throughout their whole lives.
