George Papadopoulos Appointed CEO of SAP Australian User Group
Sydney, Australia – 03 November 2025
The SAP Australian User Group (SAUG) is proud to announce the appointment of George Papadopoulos as its new Chief Executive Officer, marking a significant milestone in the organisation’s continued commitment to empowering SAP professionals across Australia.
George brings over 8 years of leadership experience within SAUG, having served as Chief Operating Officer since 2022 and previously as Head of Sales. His deep understanding of the SAP ecosystem, combined with a passion for transformation, business development and community engagement, positions him ideally to lead SAUG into its next chapter.
George previously held senior roles in the retail sector and has over 25 years of experience in member group management and association leadership.

I look forward to expanding our reach, strengthening our member value and driving strategic partnerships that help our members prosper.”
As CEO, George will oversee SAUG’s strategic direction, member engagement initiatives, and advocacy efforts with SAP. Under his leadership, SAUG plans to;
- focus on membership growth, both SAP customers and SAP partners
- expand its regional events program
- strengthen collaboration with SAP
- advocate for member needs in areas such as cloud migration, AI integration & sustainability
- launch and grow a Student Employment Portal which will kickstart professional journeys by connecting graduating students directly with employers seeking fresh, skilled talent
The SAUG Committee expressed strong support for George’s leadership, citing his extensive management experience, intricate knowledge of SAUG and track record of delivering member value.
Jonathon Thorpe (SAUG Chairperson) said; “George has been a key part of the Australian User Group for many years & his appointment as CEO is a great recognition of the passion and commitment that he has shown to SAUG, our members and our partners. With a member base of over 6,000 individuals from 300+ companies, SAUG is the only SAP-endorsed user group in Australia.
